The Traditional Sauna Pail

This sauna bucket is seven inches tall to the rim and ten inches across the top. It is modeled similair to the original sauna pail from Finland. Again these buckets have the bands made of nylon cord to eliminate rusty metal bands or the chance of burning your skin in a hot sauna. There is NO glue used. The bucket is as watertight as that particular wood permits, (there will always be some seepage through the wood pores themselves), once it has been soaked for a while in clean water. Red Cedar is the most popular wood used, but maple is favoured by many. Other woods available are Yellow Cedar, Alder, Pine, or, as is shown in the photo below, Spruce banded with a white nylon cord.
